As one cycle comes to a close, we prepare for the new.

This current cycle has been rough. Armed conflicts have intensified, and we are continuously bombarded with information that obscures the truth. The rise of social media and all the convenience apps have promoted a way of being that trap us in an abstract and projecting way of thinking. It cuts us off from the knowing and understanding the process and systems and leaves us with fractured and false views of people and the world really works.

We have to focus on our circumstances. Understanding our situation, why we think and do what we do, is how we become competent. Our concrete lived experiences allow us to see and contribute to the world. We do not have to reduce ourselves and everything else to objects and tools to be exploited. The lack of assurance so many have has led to so much chaos that now we must focus on what is exigent and not get caught up in distractions or numb our feelings. We can have solace once we are able to temper our anxieties, i.e. reigning in the obsessions to control, possess and endlessly consume. We all have intelligence and can enlighten and nurture each other. As we embrace Umbuntu, we focus on forging egalitarian relationships where no one has to prove their right to have dignity and respect and where power is balanced and is used to help, not harm and destroy. There must be goodwill, trust, and reciprocity.

I am because we are, live and let live.
