Breaking the chains! part 2

Why did the ancient Egyptians resist the Greeks’ attempts to change the calendar? Because it went against Maat.

This is an example of the objectification, abstraction and materialism that informs the perspective of Europe and the modern world described in “Yurugu“, by Marimba Ani published with Afrikan World Books 1994. The Ancient Egyptian calendar (Sidereal) aligned with the movement of our solar system as it moved through space that resulted in the Egyptian calendar floating as well. The Greeks (the foundation of western thought) used abstraction and objectification to meet their cultural obsession of control/domination and fixed the calendar to the earth (Tropical). This action imposed the earth’s cycle on the cosmos instead of recognizing the earth’s cycle in context with the larger cycles of our solar system. As we continue to break the chains, we have to remember and reinterpret ideas and actively question our viewpoint.
